Plaster finish (marcite)
The traditional cement-based interior finish troweled onto gunite pools — the cheapest finish, but the shortest-lived at about 7–15 years.
Plaster (a mix of white cement and marble dust, sometimes called marcite) is the classic interior coating sprayed and troweled onto a gunite shell. It gives the familiar smooth, light-blue pool surface at the lowest finish cost.
It's also the least durable finish, lasting about 7–15 years before it stains, etches, or roughens and needs resurfacing. Pebble and tile finishes cost more but last substantially longer.
